MaxPreps Top 25 high school football scores: No. 2 Bishop Gorman hosts No. 6 Miami Central

No. 2 Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas) welcomes No. 6 Central (Miami, Fla.) to Nevada in one of the biggest games of the season. The Gaels are 2-0 averaging 61 points per game. This will be the season opener for the four-time defending Florida state champs.
This is third meeting between the two national powers since 2017. James Cook rushed for 199 yards and two scores leading Miami Central to a 24-20 win. In 2021, Zachariah Branch had six receptions for 121 yards and two touchdowns in a 21-20 victory for the Gaels.
No. 1 Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) has its first home game of the season and faces Creekside (Fairburn, Ga.). This is the first time the Monarchs are taking on a team from the Peach State. Mater Dei is 13-0 against out-of-state competition since 2017.
No. 7 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.) is fresh off an impressive 35-14 win over No. 20 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, Md.) and has a road test at Cardinal Gibbons (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.). This will be the first meeting between the two since 2016.
No. 14 Centennial (Corona, Calif.) locks horns with the No. 2 team from Hawaii in Punahou (Honolulu). The Buff’n Blue are 3-0 this year and have outscored the opposition 117-21. The Huskies bounced back last week with a 34-21 win over Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.) after a 28-14 loss against No. 1 Mater Dei.
Julian Lewis and No. 18 Carrollton (Ga.) have a big road test at Rome (Ga.). The Wolves have outscored their first two opponents 90-8. The Trojans cruised to a 49-0 win over South Paulding (Douglasville, Ga.) last week. Lewis completed 11 of 17 passes for 241 yards and three touchdowns.
No. 20 St. Frances Academy (Baltimore) put together one of the toughest schedules of all-time and are off to an 0-2 start. Both losses have come against teams in the top 10 against No. 5 Buford (Ga.) and No. 7 Chaminade-Madonna (Hollywood, Fla.). Up next is a road matchup against East St. Louis (Ill.).
